There are so many materials available in the market with different pros and cons. The most famous of them are ss pipes and copper pipes. Let's see what are the differences between them and what should be preferred.

Stainless Steel V/S copper

Cost

Copper pricing volatility, rather than its cost, can pose severe problems in a project. Stainless steel is a more stable commodity than copper, and its price does not fluctuate as much. This can make it easier to keep a project on track. Stainless steel cost is increasingly equivalent to, and in some circumstances less expensive than, copper. Cost is a very important factor in any business and manufacturers would choose the one which provides greater strength at less cost.

Installation

Copper is a softer, more pliable metal, as previously stated. This implies it can be bent easily, which could reduce the requirement for some tiny fittings, but it requires additional skills and effort. It may also necessitate further assistance. Stainless steel's hardness and stiffness make it ideal for long-term installations, requiring less support than copper. Because the wall thickness can be reduced while maintaining the same pressure rating, stainless steel tubes may be lighter than copper tubes, making installation easier.

Environment friendly

Stainless steel is a long-lasting, reusable, and recyclable material. It also has a minimal carbon footprint because it may be manufactured without the use of toxic chemicals. Copper is also a low-carbon, environmentally friendly material. However, if not properly disposed of, it can pollute the environment.

Corrosion resistance

Corrosion resistance refers to a material's ability to withstand the corrosive effects of the fluids or gases passing through it, as well as any external corrosive influences. Corrosion resistance is one of the most essential advantages of stainless steel. This resistance is due to a passive chromium oxide layer that forms on stainless steel surfaces and swiftly regenerates in the case of superficial damage, providing high corrosion resistance in a wide range of applications. Copper can corrode when exposed to certain typical environmental conditions, especially at high amounts. Internal copper pipework can corrode when exposed to acidic environments. This can lead to water discoloration and copper toxicity in pipes. While both stainless steel and copper will corrode in the correct conditions, stainless steel has a wider range of gases and fluids to which it is resistant. Thus, it becomes easier to decide that stainless steel pipes are a better option than copper ones since it is more environmentally friendly, strong, and long-lasting. Thus, one can get pipe stainless steel from any seller in the market.
